It’s All Fun and Games...Until You Can’t Feel Your Butt

Snow!  There’s a certain amount of excitement that comes with snow.  It is fun  It is exciting.  We do not often get to play in the snow because of Gabby’s asthma, but there was no denying them today.  Due to our lack of spending much time in a beautiful winter wonderland, we do not own any sleds or other fun snow equipment.  So that left nothing to do, but make a snowman.  After taking 30 minutes to bundle up, out the door we went.  I had told them how deep it was.  Yet, Kota was very surprised when he couldn’t really stand up in it.

I always like to get one picture of them all standing together.  As you can see, this was not just a little snow.  There is 14 inches out there. And yes, it is a struggle to walk in.

We quickly got to work on the snowman.  It went much quicker than we expected, because this snow is awesome for packing.  I worked on the bottom, Emma did the middle, and Gabby did the top.  But we all worked together to get it finished.  The kids found the rocks (who has coal laying around?). Jerry found the sticks, and Kota kept handing me more snow to keep packing it all together.

Team work!  Makes the dream work.  Or something like that.

All was going well, until I wanted one more group picture.  This time making snow angels.  Kota turned into a crying, puddle of a mess.  “I can’t feel my butt!”, he kept yelling.  Sadly he would not partake in the snow angel picture.

I was so sad to miss church today due to having to cancel. We may have to have our own communion here at home just so it feels like Sunday. But even though I am sad to miss out on seeing my church family, I am grateful for the extra time I got to spend with my family at home. It was fun, even with the meltdown, the bloody nose, and a no named snowman (because they can not agree).  We followed all of this fun with hot chocolate, a free for all lunch (I can not tell you enough how amazing grilled cheese and tomato soup is together), and some Netflix time. I’m pretty sure the kids will likely not have school tomorrow, because...well 14 inches of snow.
